Find a Three Green Birds chapter in your community.
To get involved with Three Green Birds, look for a chapter in your community. At this time we use Meetup.com to organize local chapters and events. To find a chapter near you, follow these steps:
- Login to Meetup.com (create a free account if you don’t already have one).
- Make sure your location is accurate in your profile.
- Search for “Three Green Birds”. The search will find groups within a specified radius of your location.
- Depending on your area and search radius, your search may uncover more than one chapter. There could be a chapter for different neighborhoods, schools, or general regions. Click any chapter of interest, browse its page to get a sense of upcoming events, past events, and membership. Important: Official Three Green Birds chapter meetup groups will display their unique chapter number in their group name. For example, “Three Green Birds – East Bay. Chapter #3”. If a group does not list its chapter number, it might not be an officially-recognized group within our database. New groups with a pending chapter registration will have “Registration pending” in its title. If you’d like to check if a chapter exists in our database, contact us at info@threegreenbirds.org.
- Join any chapter’s Meetup group and fill out the profile information, usually these will be questions about your interest and experiences, to help people get to know you! No experience is necessary, so if you’re brand new to community gardening, don’t be afraid to make that known so you can get some instruction at your first meetup.
- The chapter organizers will arrange regular meetups, so sign up for your first meetup. You can see all upcoming meetups on the chapter’s Meetup page. To stay up to date on happenings with your chapter group, you can elect to subscribe to the mailing lists.
- If you’d like to officially join a chapter, talk to your chapter organizer. Each chapter will have a minimum donation fee for official member status, and you’ll receive a Three Green Birds membership card from our central office.
No Three Green Birds chapter in your area?
You can start the first. Contact our main office (info@threegreenbirds.org), and one of our staff volunteers will send you our comprehensive packet with the initial steps to get started. Each new chapter gets a starter budget, pending status in our database, and an orientation by one of our experienced chapter leaders. After a 3-month initiation/evaluation period, your chapter will become official and will be assigned a unique chapter number and Three Green Birds plaque.
